MetroWest Massachusetts

Window Replacement & Installation

Energy-efficient windows that stop drafts, not just look new.

Overview

Windows Done Right for New England Weather

Old, single-pane or worn double-hung windows are one of the biggest sources of heat loss in New England homes. FortExteriors Systems installs energy-efficient vinyl, fiberglass, and wood-clad replacement windows with full frame or insert installation, properly flashed and insulated so there are no air gaps left behind trim.

Materials & Systems We Install

  • Vinyl double-hung and casement windows
  • Fiberglass window systems
  • Wood-clad windows for historic-district homes
  • Low-E, argon-filled insulated glass
  • Full-frame and insert (pocket) installation
  • Energy Star-rated glass packages
Why FortExteriors Systems

What Sets Our Windows Work Apart

Full-frame or insert installation

We recommend the right method for your existing frames, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Low-E, argon-filled glass

Energy Star-rated glass packages sized for Massachusetts heating and cooling seasons.

Historic-district-friendly profiles

Simulated divided lite and true divided lite options for homes in historic districts like parts of Newton and Wellesley.

Proper flashing & insulation

Every window is flashed, foam-insulated, and sealed — the leading cause of window failure is bad installation, not bad glass.

Our Process

How a Windows Project Works

  1. In-home measurement & consultation

We measure every opening and discuss frame material, grid patterns, and glass packages.

  2. Custom order

Windows are manufactured to the exact opening size — no shimmed, ill-fitting units.

  3. Removal & installation

Old windows are removed, frames are inspected for rot, and new units are set, shimmed, insulated, and flashed.

  4. Interior & exterior finishing

Trim, caulking, and touch-up paint complete the job inside and out.

FAQ

Windows Questions, Answered

Will new windows lower my heating bill?

Most homeowners see a noticeable drop in drafts and heating/cooling costs, especially when replacing original single-pane or early double-pane windows.

Insert or full-frame replacement — what’s the difference?

Insert replacement keeps your existing exterior trim and is faster; full-frame replacement removes everything down to the studs and is recommended when frames are rotted or you’re changing window size.

Can you match historic window profiles?

Yes — we install true and simulated divided lite windows that meet the look required in historic districts, including parts of Newton and Wellesley.

How long does window installation take?

A typical whole-house window replacement (10-15 windows) takes 1-2 days once the custom units arrive.
