Overview

Siding Done Right for New England Weather

Siding is your home’s first defense against wind-driven rain, humidity, and freeze-thaw cycling. FortExteriors Systems installs vinyl, fiber cement (James Hardie), and engineered wood siding systems with proper house-wrap, flashing, and rainscreen detailing so moisture never gets trapped behind the wall.

Materials & Systems We Install

  • James Hardie fiber cement siding
  • Insulated vinyl siding
  • Engineered wood siding
  • Aluminum and vinyl trim, fascia & soffit
  • Rainscreen and drainage wrap systems
  • Continuous rigid insulation (upgrade option)
Why FortExteriors Systems

What Sets Our Siding Work Apart

Moisture management done right

Weather-resistant barriers, flashing tape, and drainage gaps behind every siding system — not siding nailed straight to sheathing.

Fiber cement & vinyl expertise

Certified installers for James Hardie fiber cement as well as premium insulated vinyl systems.

Color-matched trim & fascia

Fascia, soffit, and trim are finished to match, so the whole exterior reads as one cohesive system.

Insulation upgrades included

Re-siding is the easiest time to add continuous rigid insulation and cut heating and cooling costs.

Our Process

How a Siding Project Works

  1. Exterior assessment

We check sheathing, existing moisture damage, and window/door flashing before recommending a system.

  2. Material & color selection

On-site samples of vinyl, fiber cement, and trim colors so you can see them against your actual house.

  3. Removal & wall prep

Old siding comes off, sheathing is repaired, and a weather-resistant barrier goes on before anything new is installed.

  4. Installation & detailing

New siding, trim, and flashing are installed to manufacturer spec, followed by a final walkthrough.

FAQ

Siding Questions, Answered

Vinyl or fiber cement — which is better for Massachusetts?

Fiber cement resists impact and holds paint longer but costs more upfront. Insulated vinyl costs less and never needs painting. We’ll walk you through the tradeoffs for your home and budget.

Can siding be replaced in winter?

Yes, though very cold temperatures can limit certain sealants and vinyl installation windows. We schedule around weather to protect the finished work.

Will new siding help with drafts and energy bills?

Yes — re-siding is the most cost-effective time to add continuous insulation and seal air gaps around windows and doors.

Do you match existing trim if I only need a partial repair?

We keep a range of common profiles and colors on hand and can special-order matches for less common trim.
